In a small community, people become part of the fabric of everyday life. He was a familiar face at the rink. He was there through the wins, the losses, the celebrations and the tough nights. He didn’t simply watch hockey, he supported it. For many years, he could be found at the rink, supporting the teams, cheering on the players and sharing in the excitement of the game. Whether it was watching the Shawville Pontiacs, Minor Hockey, Shawville Men’s League or the Tournaments, Hubert showed up.

The Shawville Pontiacs are proud to dedicate the Player of the Month Award in honor of Hubert Horner.

The Hubert Horner Player of the Month Award will be presented to the player who demonstrates commitment and excellence both on and off the ice. “Hubert was one of the most dedicated individuals and supporters in everything we’ve ever done and I cannot think of anyone else more fitting to name this award after” says Head Coach Darcy Findlay. “His chair may be empty, but his place in the hockey community never will be.”
