RIDEAUS HOLD OFF PONTIACS 3-2

Rideaus Hold Off Pontiacs 3-2

Smiths Falls Rideaus leaned on an early power play and a 3-0 cushion to beat the Shawville Pontiacs 3-2 at Smiths Falls Memorial Community Centre. Brett Costello started the scoring, Kyle Dowdall added the second goal, and Andrew Mckenney delivered the game-winner in the second period.

The Rideaus struck twice in the opening frame after Anthony Clutchey took a high-sticking penalty, with Costello scoring on the power play at 8:31 and Dowdall following 39 seconds later. Mckenney made it 3-0 at 11:01 of the second, and Dallas Slack backed it up with 32 saves for the win.

Shawville answered late in the second when Jordan Graham scored on the power play with three seconds left, then Vincent Maisonneuve cut it to one early in the third on another power-play goal. But Tom Meyerhans and the Pontiacs could not find the tying goal before time ran out.

Graham was the first star, with Costello second and Mckenney third. The Rideaus improve to 3-0, while the Pontiacs fall to 1-1.
